What You Really Need: P90x Workout Equipment

The P90x is a workout program developed by Tony Horton that combines twelve different workouts and a nutrition plan.  Not only it is a great way to lose weight but proved to be effective in muscle building within 90 days.  But aside from different movements, a good set of equipment is also needed to get the best results.
You will just need three basic equipments to get significant results: resistance bands, chin-up bar and push-up stands.

• Resistance bands.  It is a great choice if you are not big fan of dumbbells, since you could easily shift to other movements or exercises.  They are also more affordable.  There are different kinds of resistance bands based on their tension level, they are color-coded to indicate its tension level.  There is also variety of bands based on their complexity, like figure 8’s, double bands, etc.  If you are just starting then you could get the simplest one and eventually learn how to use them.

• Chin-up bar.   This is another P90x equipment.  Chin-up or pull-up bar would allow you to work on biceps and back muscles.  When choosing chin-up bars, you should at least have an idea on its two types: one which requires permanent installation and a removable pull-up bar that will use the weight of the user to lock themselves.

• Push-up stands.   Push-up stands are important to ease weight and strain that you are placing on your wrists whenever doing push-ups. Push-up stands also have foams on the handles to ease hand strains and easy grip.  This would allow you to go deeper and creating more movement and effort on each push-up you do.  When buying push-up stands, get a stable bar.  A moving bar can cause you to lose balance.   When starting with the P90x, you could just settle for the standard push-up stand instead of purchasing a more expensive professional stand.

These are the major equipments that you will be using during your P90x routine.  There are other equipment which could help you improve you performance, although it is not “required” that you have them.  For example, the heart rate monitor is a great way to calculate the amount of calories you have burned.  You could control your workout’s intensity and decide if you are ready to take your workout into another level.

You could also think about getting a floor mat especially when performing yoga poses.  When choosing a floor mat, make sure that it is soft enough to lessen the strain when performing movements.  It should also be hard enough to support your balance and movements.  If you would not be getting the right mat, then it could cause your feet to ache. However, if you are on a budget or not willing to spend too much on your P90x equipment, then you could skip the gym mat.

These equipments would help in getting your body lose weight and ripped fast through P90x workout.  Professional-designed equipment could be expensive, but there are standard exercise equipments which could cost lower. You could also think about purchasing second-hand or previously-owned equipments, however, it is important to test them to make sure that you are not sacrificing your safety over price.

P90X – The Yoga Factor

In an industry where hype sometimes overshadows real facts, P90X as a body workout program needs no introduction. Judging from the enthusiastic reactions of its millions of satisfied users and other fans, P90X is the best and the most popular of its kind at the moment.

As developed by the famous physical exercise guru Tony Horton, P90X is a workout program covering an intense 90-day physical workout of exercise routines. Since its introduction, many men and women have been raving about its ability to tone, shape and lift a person’s physique.

Yoga X

At the end of every month, the program features two sessions of yoga.  Many people thought that yoga is only one mode of an effective exercise and at best is something to effect some change of pace.
However, Yoga X shows the power and the difficulty of yoga. It did improve both balance and flexibility for the user even within a month, but sticking to it can be tough.
Muscular endurance

Even if yoga does not use the same repetition sets of training that traditional strength training uses, your muscles are put through their paces just the same. There are several moves in Yoga X routine that you have to repeat many times, too.

As you may have noticed, yoga is an overall body workout but does not target one particular body part for maximum stimulation. The routine, however, is focused on the use of the many different muscles over and over again.

Mind-muscle connection

The ability to control your muscles is more of how well your brain can control any given muscle or muscle group. Since the yoga poses make you use different muscles at once, the level of neuro-muscular coordination is radically expanded.

Active recovery

This actually means warming up a fatigued muscle, open up the blood vessels in it and wash away the lactic acid that causes pain.

This is not just for feeling good again (and not sore) but also for working a muscle or a muscle group before it is completely recovered from a previous intense workout.

Flexibility

The P90X Yoga X routine has many flexibility exercise moves in it, but the benefit is in the constant need to stretch various parts of your body while in unusual or difficult-to-hold poses.

Many of the poses in Yoga X are called “Moving Asanas”. This is a pose where you start with one position, and while holding a certain part of your body perfectly still, you move your other parts into very difficult to maintain positions.

If you have flexibility issues, it is not a matter of IF you will be injured, but rather
WHEN will it happen?

Focus

Yoga X may be a very challenging workout in P90X, but it is also very fluid where you are in a certain zone and frame of mind.
You are encouraged to focus on the present moment, giving your attention to your body and to the workout.

Worth every minute of it

The Yoga X portion of the P90X is well worth the time you do them. For P90X to work, you take in the overall effect of all the portions and not simply picking one out to enjoy. You should not just do all the 12 routines, but also work them out in the proper sequence as well.

P90x: The Downside

We have heard numerous benefits of Tony Horton’s extreme and intense workout, the P90x.  Reviews raved on the fact that you could actually see your body shedding the unwanted pounds and building muscles within 90 days.  It seems like it is a perfect workout for everybody.
In general, exercise has no disadvantages. In fact, lack of exercise and mobility is one contributing factor in increasing risks of heart attacks and other health concerns.  By working out, not only do you strengthen your muscles and joints, you also develop a stronger immune system and better mental and social health.  So what could be possibly wrong with a program that will help you develop a healthier body and overall well-being?
• Consistently adhering to the program
Being consistent is not just a problem with the P90x.  It is the most common issues among home workouts.  Staying on a program would depend on the individual’s discipline and commitment. But aside from that, a workout program should be convenient enough to fit into people’s schedule.
The P90x workout would usually last for 60 to 90 minutes, for about six days a week. The seventh day is for rest, although there are also stretching exercises on that day which are equally important.  This is great if you have that time, but most of the people are complaining that there is “no enough” time for working out.  So this would definitely create some problems in the long run, you could end up not finishing the program.

One on One with Tony Horton
• It can be too tough.
Although the P90x infomercials are making it clear that the workout is intense and advanced, there are still some people who fail to analyze their ability.  Completing the fitness test is very important to check if you are physically ready for the P90x.
• Diet limitations
The P90x offers a diet and nutritional plan which matches each phase of the workout.  However, it does not offer any appetite suppressants which can make it difficult since you are required to be disciplined about it.  There are also no fat burning supplements along with the program.
• Lifestyle change
The P90x requires a total lifestyle change. The nutritional plan recommends recipes which can be time-consuming to prepare. Aside from following the meal plan, you could also follow the proportions plan which states the specific amount of food you could consume.  There would be times when following the nutritional plan can be very hard, you will need commitment and control to get those muscles you are after.
• Pricey
Yes, the P90x deliver results, but they could be more expensive than any other fitness programs.  It would cost you about three payments of $39.95, plus the shipping fee. If you do not have any equipment then you would also add that to the cost.  You would also to purchase supplements and protein drinks to help you with your diet.
Because of its intensity, P90x may not be safe for some people.  Overweight people or those who have no workout experience should talk to their doctor first. Although,  creators of P90x say that anybody could follow the program, you would still need to consider personal condition before starting.

It uses contemporary technology and concepts, which are integrated into effective exercise techniques. The dieting component is a great complement for natural weight loss routines. It helps to know that P90X has been time-tested and proven-effective by many.

P90x Nutrition And Diet Plan

According to World Heath Organization, about 2.7 million deaths can be connected to low fruit and vegetable components in daily diet while, 1.9 million deaths are related to lack of physical activity.  With this in mind, Americans are starting to spend million on numerous “diets” and fitness programs.   Tony Horton understanding the need of Americans to stay fit developed the P90x which combines both exercise and diet.
The P90x is a 90-day fitness program that does not only builds you body strength and stamina, but also focuses on developing healthy eating habits.  The nutritional and diet plan complement the weight loss and muscle building regimen.  The nutrition plan has three phases:  the Fat Shredder,  Energy Booster and the Endurance Maximizer.
• Phase 1 or Fat Shredder
This diet followed in the first four weeks. This would start weight loss and focuses on high-protein diet.  Consumption of carbohydrates is kept at minimum. Protein would provide your body energy to get through with the workout.  What are great sources of protein?  Lean meat, salmon steaks, tuna, tofu and low-sugar vegetables like lettuce and other greens are great sources of protein.
• Phase 2 or Energy Booster
In this phase, carbohydrates are again introduced to the diet.  The combination of carbohydrates and protein would increase your energy level, just make sure that they have lower amount of fat.  This is also the phase where exercises are becoming more rigorous and intense.   Carbohydrates like wheat bread, pasta, grains, legumes and potatoes could be eaten but there are still proper proportions followed. There is no defined time period when to stop the diet.   You could continue it as long as it is providing you the energy and stamina needed for the workout.
• Phase 3 or Endurance Maximizer
As the phase is called, it consists of food that would be providing the followers in more energy and stamina.  Followers would consume more complex carbohydrates, lean proteins but low-fat content.  Some would hesitate to follow this phase since it consumes much carbohydrate, but surprisingly, to adapt with intense workouts, carbo is needed.
Before starting the P90x meal plan, it is important to calculate the calorie consumption. It would be based on the activity level and resting metabolic rate.
There are two ways to follow the P90x nutrition plan, it could be through the meal plan or the portion plan.  In meal plan, there are menus which you could follow or prepare.  In portion plan, servings or amount of the food per meal is important.  You could identify which plan suits your needs and preference.
To help followers, not only menus are offered in the guide.  Grocery lists and recipes are also included in the guide.  If you read the meal plan, you will be able to notice the P90x finds it more suitable to consume several small amounts of food than big meals.  Water intake is also given importance in this meal plan.
The P90x nutrition plan is meant to help followers of the P90x to combine exercise and healthy diet.  At the end of the day, it is not only a 90-day program but a lifestyle change.  It would help you achieve not only a bulkier and your dream bod, but a healthier body too. But to achieve it, discipline in sticking to the program will help achieve positive results.

Muscle Building With P90x

Get Ripped in 90 Days

Will P90x help you lose weight? The answer is yes.  Will it help build your muscles? And the answer is an astounding yes.  The P90x is an intense and advanced program that will let you work on muscle groups that you have not worked before.
This Tony Horton program follows the muscle confusion principle which would let you work on 12 different and difficult workouts.  The twelve intensive workouts would include exercises for your chest and back, shoulders and arms, triceps, biceps, legs, core, and shoulders.  It would also include plyometrics, yoga, kenpo, stretching, and intense cardio workouts.
According to this principle, if you have been working out with the same routine you have been using for a long time, then it is possible that your muscles are already accustomed with the movements.
Changing your workout routines, would keep your muscles toned.  Within a week, you would be sweating it out to five different workouts.  Your routine would change every three weeks.   The P90x program, which lasts for 9 months, would develop your body’s muscles, strength, and flexibility every week and would still push you to your limits until the end of the program. In a way, the P90x workout is a progressive exercise.
Why are different trainings important in muscle building?  The human body adapts to the movements and exercises quicker than you thought.  Changing the routine would add more muscle growth.  The P90x also uses exercise equipment like chin-up bars, push-up stands and resistance bands which also contribute to muscle development.
Another contributing factor on muscle building is the nutrition and the supplements you are taking.  The P90x also consider these in their program.  This program follows a nutritional plan which they recommend to followers as a meal plan or a proportions plan.
Calories are reduced and the amount of carbohydrates and protein taken are based on different phases of the nutritional plan. For example, during the first phase of the workout, foods high with protein are consumed more.  These high-protein foods will provide strength and burn fat in muscles.  Consumption of is reduced.
Carbohydrates are not that needed in muscle building.  It is protein and fats which would help build bigger muscles.  So aside from protein-rich foods, there are also P90x protein supplements.  There are also protein bars which are easy snacks especially for those who are quite busy with their daily activities.
Drinking plenty of water everyday is another important part in building your body strength and fitness.  Water would flush out toxins from your body and would also improve the circulation of blood.  With an improved circulation, nutrients would be distributed efficiently.
Another thing that most people would often neglect, whether they are in a fitness program like the P90x or not, is getting proper sleep.  Muscles do not only develop while performing hard activities, they also “grow” while sleeping or resting. Getting enough rest would help you regain strength for what would come next.
The P90x program would surely help you achieve the ripping that you want. Not only do you develop muscles, but you would also achieve better health which would definitely show on your body on the long run.
